The proper storage of teas is important to the quality of the taste of your tea, as well as how long that quality will last. Proper storage of teabags will keep the quality for four to six months; for loose teas the quality will last for up to two years.

  • Tea should be stored in opaque containers with tight-sealing lids. This will guard against moisture and help to preserve the flavour.
  • Tea should be stored in a cool, dry place away from light and strong-smelling foods.
  • Lighter, less-fermented teas (particularly Green Tea) should not be stored for long periods--never more than a year.
